8 Months!

  • Growth & Development
    • Size 3 diapers snug; size 4 a little big
    • Clothes 6-12 mo or 9 mo fits; some 12 months fits if run small. I am going to create a list of stores and brands and how they fit one day to keep track!
    • Sleeps on her belly all the time! It used to make me nervous, but since she can roll so easily it does not bother me.
    • Does not crawl yet. She pushes off her hands sometimes, almost crawling backwards. She rolls all over floor and has become quite squirmy when you hold her! Especially if she is reaching for something.
    • Sits well unsupported. Just have to watch her because she will lean forward to her hands sometimes and land hard. She leaned forward once like this as I was not watching and bruised her cheek on the coffee table. Momma felt really guilty. :(
    • Laughs laughs laughs!
    • Continues to babble. Still says "ga ga" and "ya ya" the most.
    • Stands while holding on to something (ie laundry basket, coffee table). She loves it! Looks at me and smiles so big like she is proud of herself.
  • Schedule
    • No strict schedule during the day other than she gets bath and bedtime at same time (7-730 bath, bedtime 730-8) and she usually does not nap after 430. She wakes anytime between 630 am to 730am. She continues to be on an eat, wake, sleep cycle. Her naps are between 30 min and 2 hours.
  • Few Firsts/Favorites/More about this stage
    • Eats solids twice a day; has had zuchinni, avocado, sweet potato, peas, and banana, apple, squash, pear, and peaches. She eats her solids well now. It used to be a challenge but she has gotten the hang of it.
    • Still not sure about the sippy cup.
    • Favorite toys: books, sophie, spider (bug set), and milk carton (grocery bag set). If you give her a non toy however she will love! She has her own tooth brush to play with in the bathroom. And she likes to play with some of my make up, like lip gloss. She wants so badly to get her hands on the tv remote, phones, keys.
    • Loves her pacifier. Doesn't necessarily need it but I can tell there are some times of the day that she would like to play while having it in her mouth. Or before naps and bedtime, it helps her go to sleep more easily.
    • We haven't been rocking before naps and bedtime as much. It is almost like it keeps her awake because she is wanting to play. If we just lay her in her crib she will go to sleep on her own. She is such an angel baby!
    • She has started to reach for people. She will hold her arms up to be held or sometimes out if she prefers me or Forrest to hold her (rare).
    • We have been doing sign language a little to her. Mostly just teaching her sign for eating and milk. She has never really gotten it but for the first time she looked at me doing sign for milk and it looked like it registered that I was trying to get her to do it. She moved her fingers a little but hasn't quite gotten the hang of it.
    • First virus. What seemed like a stomach virus (fever, diarrhea, loss of appetite) ended up being Roseola I believe. She had those three things and then a rash that showed up the last couple of days of her being sick. It made me so sad, broke my heart!
    • First bruise. I blame myself. I shouldn't have walked away!
    • First trip to pumpkin patch! She was too cute! Sat there so content so I could get a few pictures.
  • Milestones
    • More mobile. There is a drastic difference between now and one month ago. She squirms, throws her head back, crunches her stomach to try and sit up, rolls around, although not graceful, goes from sitting to belly/hands. She is definitely working hard now to get places and to try and show me where she wants to be!

7 Months and flying by...

When Hadison hit the 6 month mark I thought I couldn't believe how fast she had grown! Now, so quickly another month has flown by and I feel like she has developed so much. She is really becoming "Hadison" and having a personality of her own! I am loving how much we can interact with her, but I am also seeing that she is going to soon learn the word "no." I am wondering how good I will be at saying that word to her, but what kind of parent would I be if I didn't do it! She is spoiled but I cannot make her rotten. ;)

Who can resist this angel?

  • Growth & Development
    • Size 3 diapers snug; size 4 a little big
    • Grown out of most 3-6 month clothes; most 6-12 mo or 9 mo fits
    • Rolls from front to back and back to front easily; I have woken up a few times to find her on her belly during which she will cry if she is up against the crib and cannot roll back over.
    • Not interested in crawling however she will lean forward and reach for things if I place in front of her
    • Reaches for EVERYTHING; wants it esp if I/we have it. She is not understanding why she cannot have my phone or the remote control for tv. I have seen her get frustrated once and I think it was because I put a cooking utensil away that she had grabbed and was interested in.
    • Sits unsupported. Occasionally will fall if she is being lazy or turning around to look at something (or me) so I try and keep cushions around her while she plays.
    • Laughs when you tickle her neck, chest, or belly or during other various activities.
    • Everyday has a screaming (excited) part of the day where once she has started, she doesn't stop. Happens at grocery store, restaurants, etc and I am never really sure what to do.
    • Babbling; says "ga ga" the most; also has said "da da" and "ya ya"
    • When she wakes up she just lays there and content and talks to herself. It is one of my favorite things! She rarely cries when waking up from sleeping. If she does it usually means she is just going back to sleep so I do not bother her.
  • Schedule
    • First time I can say she is not really on a strict schedule other than she gets bath and bedtime at same time (7-730 bath, bedtime 730-8) and she usually does not nap after 430. Her schedule started changing when she started waking up earlier than normal. She wakes anytime between 630 am to 730am. She continues to be on an eat, wake, sleep cycle. Her naps are between 30 min and 3 hours.
  • Few Firsts/Favorites/More about this stage
    • Started sleeping in crib right after she turned 6 months. Day one was actually okay but she had a hard time going down a couple naps afterwards. She slept through the night no problem on first night. Overall, I would says transition was pretty easy.
    • New babbling "words"
    • Seeing some teething symptoms
    • Eats solids now twice a day; has had zuchinni, avocado, sweet potato, peas, and banana. I made it myself and it is super easy and cheap. Her favorite is avocado and she doesn't mind the peas surprisingly. I was surprised she did not go crazy over the banana as that was her first fruit to try.
    • Introduced sippy cup but I can tell it is definitely too early for her to understand that she is supposed to drink from it.
    • If not her favorite, one of her favorite things is her book (there are two really, that are same type of book just different story) I know them by heart, we have read them so much. I love that she loves to be read to. She sits there so patiently as though she is listening and understanding.
  • Milestones
    • Crib transition and eating solids were biggest changes this month

    • Head Circumference: 16 1/2in (34%)
    • Size 3 diapers
    • Clothes 3-6 mo
    • Plays on tummy, pushes off hands and feet. Does not enjoy being on belly for long.
    • Can roll from belly to back and back to belly. From back to belly is harder and a lot of times she just lays there on her side to play.
    • Interested in everything it seems...always reaching out for what I am holding or what is around her.
    • Loves to squeal and gurgle still. Early stages of babbling. Says "ah" like she is repeating the way we say "yeah" to her
    • Can sit up on own for little while but becomes unsteady as she plays
    • While sitting up can prop herself up with her arm (like "tripod" position)
    • Began eating oatmeal once a day
    • Can stand and hold herself up on something
    • Recognizes Mommy and Daddy. She has begun to show signs of favoring us (can mostly see it with me).
    • Has held arms up a few times in bumpo chair like she is trying to tell me to pick her up. Melts my heart. <3 font="font">
  • Schedule
    • Sleeps from 8:00-8:30pm to around 7-7:30am (in rock n play). We are getting ready for crib transition
    • Starting to get bored of play mat. Only entertained on it for about 10 minutes and usually that is in the morning. She always wants me to play with her!
    • Eating every 3 hours - 730am, 1030am, 130pm, 430pm, 730pm. At 1030 feeding she is getting oatmeal. :)
    • Bath time 7-730pm. Bottle after, then down for the night.
    • Few Firsts/Favorites/More about this stage
    • First real play time in the pool. Enjoys the pool now!
    • We read same book before every nap. She loves it and gets so excited.
    • Everything she can get her hands on goes in mouth
    • First time in high chair and first time to eat oatmeal
    • First time to meet her cousins, Ashton, Abigail, and Aiden
    • Wants to be everywhere I am during the day.
    • Wakes up in morning and just lays there looking around until me or Forrest goes in. She gets a big smile on her face when she sees us and kicks her legs and flails her arms!
    • Brought out the baby bullet and read about making her veggies and fruits. We will start that this month. :P

5 Months

  • Growth & Development
    • Just bought our first box of size 3 diapers!
    • 0-3 mo clothes really tight; 3-6 mo starting to fit
    • Can lift chest when on belly but only rests on elbows for a few seconds. Still dislikes tummy time.
    • Reaches and grabs for things then brings it to her mouth.
    • Laughing :D We were twirling and looking in the mirror the other day and she was giggling so hard. I teared up because I had never heard her laugh so much!
    • She likes to make high pitch little screams too when she is excited.
    • Cooing a lot more now; we have conversations. She also has discovered she can gurgle.
  • Schedule
    • Sleeps from 8:30pm to around 7-7:30am (in rock n play). I am dreading the transition to crib.
    • Loves her play mat first thing in the morning after breakfast; she is so active on it now.
    • Longest nap is about 2 hours, usually in morning (8-8:30 am to 10-10:30 am).
    • Still eating every 3 hours - her schedule is completely opposite now! Since she has been waking around 730am she is eating then, again at 1030, and so on. These times used to be her going down for nap times.
    • Bath time at 7pm
  • Few Firsts/Favorites/More about this stage
    • First weekend away from Mommy and Daddy (stayed at Lala and Pop Pops during our anniversary trip)
    • Lots of drooling!
    • Putting hands and objects (toys and blankets) in mouth
    • Puts hands on bottle when eating
    • Loves her little lovie/snuggling with it during naps and at night
    • She loves to go outside, especially in the evening. Daddy usually takes her for a golf cart ride which makes her happy.
    • Loves/smiles when looking in mirror while being held; loves being held period!
    • Kicks and plays a lot more in bath.. splashing water outside her little tub
    • Twirling with me, standing on feet while holding her up, swinging in air, anything that involves playing. She is so easy to entertain!
  • Milestones
    • Hmm well I would say the reaching for things and putting them to mouth is the biggest thing since that involves quite a bit of coordination. Baby center says that has a lot to do with her development of depth perception. Way to go H!
    • I was hoping to be able to put lifting chest here but she has not quite mastered that.
