Tutu :)

She can FINALLY fit into it! Tutu from her Aunt Mae Mae!

Ash's Bday!

Ashley and Danny came in town for Ashley's birthday so we took them to brunch at La Bodega. Then we went and saw Slumdog Millionare with them and her parents which was REALLY good. It was so good to see our future neighbors! ;)

Steph's Visit!

Steph came in town for her 24th birthday and we had a blast! We took her to a country bar to see how well she would fit in and she had her first experience two stepping on the dance floor! Ryan and Danielle went with us and just made the night so fun- we were laughing all night. Steph lives in Austin, so College Station is bit of a drastic change of environment for her. At one point during the weekend, she actually asked me if Forrest and I had internet...HAHAHAHA! She thinks we live out in the country! I just love her so much. We might live totally different lives but that is what makes our friendship so special and fun. I just can't wait to see her again!

SUPERBOWL

Danielle and Ryan hosted a superbowl party at their house yesterday. We had fun watching the commercials and eating all of the good food. I love superbowl food like chips and rotel dip..... and Danielle made the BEST spinach artichoke dip! I need the recipe, D! I think I got more excited about the food than I did the game. :D

Out with work friends!

Me and some girls I work with went dancing at the Hall of Fame! We have all become really great friends and I am so glad to be working with all of them!

Papa Honey and Estate

This past weekend, Forrest, his dad, and I visited the Mahan Estate in Elliott, Texas. The story behind this property is that it has been in Papa Honey's family for generations and the actual house has not been lived in since Papa Honey's grandparents built it. Well, we have been visiting Papa Honey more than usual lately because around October, we found out that he has lung cancer. He underwent chemotherapy for months but the impact of the chemo was not worth the side effects for him....he decided to go off the medications. On one of the family visits, Papa Honey started talking about this land and how he missed it...so Forrest and his dad told him that they wanted to take him out there to see it. The day came for the guys to take him and he wasn't feeling well enough to go. So the three of us went- I decided to go because I wanted to get pictures of them seeing it for the first time. And, I thought if anything- I could give Honey the pictures. It was really a special moment for the two of them. We hope to take Papa Honey out there the next time he is up for it.

Forrest is probably closer to Papa Honey than any other grandparent and family members have always told him that he is more like him than anybody else in his family...boy is that ever true! I just love to see the two of them together because they make each other laugh so much...they just really have a relationship beyond any other grandpa/grandson relationship I have ever known. Papa Honey is really and extraordinary and one of a kind person...

Papa Honeys

Forrest and I went out to see Papa Honey and while we were there, Forrest wanted me to shoot his new gun. He has taken me to the gun range before but I have never shot a gun outside in broad daylight! It was kind of wierd I must say! And, a little scary even though I was so careful with it. He wants me to be able to protect myself in any emergency. I think he has seen a a little too many episodes of Gangland on TV! haha

Jaime's visit!

Jaime came in town and the three of us went out to Harry's one night! We also got massages, saw two movies, did a little shoppin, talked over coffee, and just had the best time together!

Nursing Program Update!

Today was a significant day for me because I completed the application process for the A&M nursing program that starts in June. Hallelujah! To describe what I have had to do to get to this point, let me start with this past May when I left the Chamber to pursue this goal of mine to become a nurse. I won't go into detail about why I wanted to go back to school to become a nurse but I will say that there were several events that took place in my life that inspired me to do so. It has always been a profession that I could imagine myself in...there just weren't enough things falling in place for it to happen- until recently. Now, everything has fallen into place I feel like God is telling me that this is what I am meant to do with my life.

Anyways, I left my job and started taking classes in June because I needed about six prerequisites for this nursing program. I finished the last of these classes this past fall semester and boy was that a relief! I also had to get CPR certified, all of my immunizations, recommendation letters, and complete my application which included writing two essays. So last night after compulsively looked over my application I finally clicked the "SUBMIT" button. PHEW! And today, I mailed in the rest of my stuff- so now the only thing left for me to do is patiently wait to hear a response!

A little bit about the program: It is a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program versus the one offered at Blinn that is an ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing) program. In the end of both, graduates that pass the NCLEX exam are licensed to become Registered Nurses (RN) BUT having the bachelors degree, in my opinion, gives you an advantage in the nursing field. The program is within the Texas A&M Health Science Center and they just started it this past June. They only accept 20 people- once a year so keep me in your prayers! :)
